Joseph Culliton
is a third generation American actor.
He has had the privilege to act opposite some legendary names in
his profession. His first
job in motion pictures was in
“Cahill, U.S.
Marshall” starring John Wayne, who personally
guided Joseph through his first days on a movie set.
As a young man in the theatre, Joseph played opposite Richard
Chamberlain, James Earl Jones, Van Johnson, Cesar Romero, Martha Raye,
and Joseph Cotten with whom he toured for three seasons.
While pursuing a career in
New York, Culliton appeared on Broadway in
South Pacific,
Broadway, and Gore Vidal’s
The Best Man.
Off-Broadway, he acted with Al Pacino and Martin Sheen in
Julius Caesar for the New York Shakespeare Festival.
He also had recurrent roles on “All My Children” and “One Life to
Live,” and featured roles on “Law and Order,” “Strangers with Candy,”
“Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” as well as the theatrical film
“Somebody Killed Her Husband.”
Since relocating to Los Angeles,
Joseph has appeared recurrently on
“General
Hospital” and in films
including “The Deadbeat,” “September 12,” “Return to Sender,” and
“Courtesy Call.” He also
enacted Donald Rumsfeld in the award winning web series “Fun With War
Crimes.” Joseph Culliton’s
regional theatre credits are extensive and include the Guthrie, Ahmanson
Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, Kennedy Center,
and The Shakespeare Theatre in
Washington,
D.C.
For the LA based Independent Shakespeare Company, he directed
acclaimed productions of Richard II and Henry IV and in
the summer of 2009, he starred as Prospero in Independent
Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
His most recent work is a co-starring role in the
upcoming ABC series "Mr. Sunshine."
